Properties and microstructure of copper/graphite composites with copper‐coated graphite fabricated by electroless plating and spark plasma sintering

Abstract In order to improve the interfacial bonding between copper and graphite, was coated on graphite by electroless plating. Copper/graphite composites with copper‐coated were fabricated spark plasma sintering. The effects of density, electrical conductivity, mechanical properties, friction wear properties copper/graphite studied. results show that: plating surface can wettability copper, interface them is well bonded. Compared pure microstructure significantly refined after adding graphite. improved, yield compressive strength elastic modulus increasing 220 % 240 %, respectively. With increase contents, density conductivity gradually decreased. coefficient rate reduced. mechanisms are mainly oxidation wear, fatigue adhesive wear.
